~serious eye candy~

hello everyone!

hope Monday has treated you all well....

for me....very well!

I got an email from Tracey at 6:34 am congratulating me that I won

I'm thrilled & promise to show you
straight away as soon as I receive it!

I was browsing all my pictures today &
came upon these tucked in a little folder...
{are they tucked in a little folder when they are in your hard drive??:)}

I'm sure many of you have seen this blog...
but just in case you haven't...
you are in for a treat!

Her name is Gua, and she's from
Iceland!  But now resides in Sweden.

her style is really wonderful~
and she is as sweet as can be...
to read her blog is like
reading a letter from an
old friend!
And her style is quite contagious...if there is
such a thing!

it seems I am going to be painting everything
in our house white or grey!!
anyone else in the same boat?

what's really amazing to me is to think
it was only this LAST summer
that I started blogging...
and just basically discovered this whole
swedish~nordic style!
not that I wasn't already knee deep
in white slipcovers....and french flea market style...
...but this just seems to take it to a whole new level...

a whole new level of fabulous-ness!
what did I ever do for
inspiration before blogging???

oh yeah, I was a magazinaholic.....
but now I've found, I can't get the same inspiration
from my old favorites...
Country Living ~ yeah ok but just ok.
Cottage Living ~ gone...
Country Home ~ gone but not that good before it died.
now it's from all of you!
all the different blogs I visit...
all the fabulous ideas I find...
I am so serious ~ I cannot believe
the amazing creativity all you girls possess!!

it really has been a wonderful journey!
thanks for all your friendship
and support!
{{hugs & kisses}}

~*~

and now for a.....

~project update~

1)  haven't decided on the arborvitae yet...
found out it's best to transplant in the fall...and now I'm wondering about a few cecile brunner climbing rose bushes instead?? apparently they grow 20 feet tall! anyone experienced these "house eaters?" as in...can grow to ginormous proportions!!!
2)  waiting and waiting and waiting to get
bid back on our stairs.....oh those contractors!! thinking about bribing my dad to come visit & "help" us do them....he's quite the diy guy!
3)  spackle is out, paint is purchased & ready to begin Mackenzie's room~

{here she is last spring helping me plant 100
baby boxwoods!! sweetie girl!}
it is currently a buttery yellow, and I am just so saddened that she would rather go with a creamy white! :)
4)  and about those 100 boxwoods we planted last spring? well only 57 left to prune.....{um...no words necessary.....} felt a little like Edward Scissorhands....but they do look darn cute all spruced up w/ their little haircuts!
5)  sites are set on redoing my previously redone
frenchy chairs.....click here to see what they look like now.....so I'm thinking dropcloth fabric....

and now....I need to set my sites on
fixing dinner....

talk soon!

xo,

Shellagh

Serious eye candy indeed! I love the shutters in that first photo. Yes, I think the blogs have put a lot of pressure on magazines. The talent out there boggles the mind!

I am in complete agreement w/you regarding the talent that "we" bloggers have. I'm serious too when I say that. It floors me everyday the beauty that we create. Because most of us are not professionals and yet we could be. IMHO.

Yes, I'm WITH you!!! My magazines are collecting DUST in a basket. I'm taking a trip this weekend, so maybe I'll catch up with those since I'll be up in the air and won't be able to get my blog FIX!! I love Swedish Country, too! There is just SOMETHING so yummy about it. Your garden is looking great and I'm jealous that you are making such headway on your lists! In a good way!

I grew a Cecile Brunner rose when I lived in Cal. and it quickly outgrew the heighth of the trellis. It was really beautiful, but plan on some strong supports for it.
Congrats on your giveaway win! I'm so excited for you!
About two years ago I didn't know what a blog was and I thought only people in magazines lived in beautiful white rooms. How quickly things can change! Now I'm trying to sneak white, burlap and linen in just about every room in my house. And blogging...forget about it. I love it so much I don't think I'll ever go back to scrapbooking (my old hobby)!
Happy gardening, show us lots of pictures!! :)

Hi dear Shellagh! congrats on the winning! you're right! blogging also opened my eyes on a new fab interior design world: the nordic atmosphere! I really love white but I barely have imagined that this colour would be so warm and welcome for houses. But that what we see in all the fantastic homes such as Gua's, is wonderful!
Have a nice day!

I am the same way, I get so much inspiration from blogs maybe to much, I can't make up my mind what I want, although I am loving this look and will probably go with this style in my family room. I had my walls painted in the gray but I changed it to a cream color, the gray just wasn't working for me although I can appreciate it in others homes just not mine (; Love the pic with the greean shutters!!

I'm loving the white/gray that blogs have shown me! I just had to redo something that way, so started with my bathroom, since it was a small room.
But that just makes me want to do more rooms this color!

Thanks for the great site to check out. It feels like I've won a jackpot.

I was just having a conversation with my mom this past weekend telling her how much I enjoy reading blogs and how little my magazines are inspiring me these days. I find so much more on blogs. Funny you should write a post about the same thing a few days later!

Have a great day.
