~floor reveal~

Hello there friends!

I'm so excited to be able to show you our new flooring
in our master bedroom!!!

In case you didn't read my last post....

I got some fir planks (tongue & groove)
off my fav craigslist....F r E e!

about 700ish ft2

what to do

what to do

I'm thinking.....

I was actually looking for paneling.....
so I could do a bedroom like this

but when I found the paneling
and looked at the backside....
the wheels started turning....& I was like "hey....look at this....hmmmmm....
looks like a possible flooring solution for our upstairs......"

I'm still really liking the paneling idea because
I love this bedroom, but with
Sadie pooch being...you know....a little "pee-body"
our flooring became more of a priority you might say.....

so out with the revolting old carpet

not without a little happy dance from my raggamuffins girls!! :o)
(with the headless papa in the background) hee hee

the sweet neighbor boy "TJ" was down in a heartbeat
to help rip up carpet as soon as Madi posted our plan on facebook!

me thinks "TJ" has a little crush on my Madi.......

Too young for all that but he's a sweet kid & lots of fun ....

continuing on..

here's my sweet "are we really doing another project honey..." husband
so diligently finishing up sanding....sanding....sanding...sanding....
so we can move back in....
poor guy suffered from temporary hearing issues from that dumb machine.....it came back after a couple weeks though...

I'm kidding!!! After only a couple days!!

I know..not funny...

just a little...not really...
;-)

most of you probably saw this raw, unfinished floor picture
I really liked the pale color of the wood

BUT

it darkened up a bit w/ the clear finish we put on.

that's ok...now it matches the flooring downstairs pretty well....and we have enough wood to do 3
bedrooms and the hallway (our bedroom & hallway are done...need to do 2 more) a little later.....  ;-0

so here's another shot of the finished floor.....

so now the decorating begins....

only because we are all friends here, I'll show you what I'm starting with
very boring..................not much you might say.............for some reason
our bedroom has always been last on the list to get attention.....

white walls which I freshened up until I can figure out what I want to do...

a black & white toile lamp
a white wicker nightstand
a big fat bed
a window over the bed...I'm not planning on using it
at least not in it's current color

That's it so far!!!

I do have a VERY cute creamy painted antique dresser
I would love to use

&

well...that's it!

do you all remember my rustic walls downstairs?

in case you don't.....here's what they look like

I'm thinking of doing a rustic plaster look similar to this above....
you may be thinking "what about the paneling???"
remember my decorating ADD? it's bad.

since I'm in a hurry.....well....I'm thinking plaster
and because I love this look

this is off Lilla Blanka's blog
her Christmas post

I love that wall! I know it's probably a bit more rustic
than I want but I love the feel.....

anyway.....so that's what I'll probably do on the walls

and as for bedding.....
I'm going to start looking!

and

I have a super cool antique wooden door that I'm thinking about using
for a headboard!

and

I want to do the whole frenchy nordic look so.....

I need to start scouting the thrift stores, Monticello and more
to find awesome accessories.

I'll keep you posted!

have an awesome weekend!

The wood floor looks fantastic!! I thought of paneling a bathroom but mu hubs won out with stone tiles. I really wanted to do the wood horizontally which would have been very cool.

I love the plaster wall look, I think you have a lot of creative ideas. Can't wait to see your master when it is done!

Your floors look great! Can't believe you got that wood for free....I keep looking for some wood myself for my kitchen countertops. Actually, for as little as I need, it probably wouldn't cost that much. But...unlike yours, my hubby's not that handy. Oh, he's a good helper, just a bit handy-man challenged!

I actually was looking on your blog earlier, for an idea to slipcover my 'cozy chair'. I love the chair you covered with the matlasse. I have one, but there's not enough material....guess I could do the seat and back cushions, and use cotton duck for the rest....

Well, enjoy your weekend and take care of those darling girls!...and your handsome hubby, of course!

The floor rocks! We have that same kind of paneling as in your dream pic in our kitchen and - of all places - our garage. I just love it! Maybe someday I'll move the garage paneling to the inside, but now our garage does have some character.

You are fortunate to find the flooring free. We restored some of the floor in my building and it cost around $1.25 a foot. You did a great job and I can hardly wait to see the walls finished. I like that look you are after.
Your blog is very nice, I am going to be a new follower. Blessing to you and your family. The girls a darling. sandi

I can't believe you found that much wood for FREE. The floor looks wonderful. It will be fun to see how the bedroom ends up when you are all done. I did a rustic plaster wall finish in my last kitchen and loved it.

And thanks for you nice comments on my last project. :)

This is the third or forth bedroom redo I've come across in blogland just this morning :) I just posted about mine last night!

So did you use wall panelling turned upside down for the floor? It looks loverly! Love the clear, natural sheen. Makes me want to go right now and rip up the vinyl and berber in my house!

Your redo turned out beautiful. I especially like it that you used recycled and free wood for the project. You are one clever gal!

My sister bought a new house for her and her 2 daughters. She wanted everything to be perfect before they move in. Yesterday, we consulted with an expert flooring consultant for advice on the materials to be used for the bedrooms. The consultant suggested that we use a stainmaster carpet (Tampa) for the 2 bedrooms because she has a toddler who is starting to walk and the carpet can serve as a soft cushion for bumps and falls. Thankfully, we have a great store that specializes in carpets and hardwood flooring (Tampa) nearby. They have a variety of materials to choose from. Sis selected a nylon carpet. I can already picture my niece walking on those carpets.

For my renovation project next year,I have decided to use wood flooring in my bedroom, too. I admire yours. Thanks for sharing this awesome post!
