~mmmmm...do I smell fall?~

Good morning
& Happy Monday bloggy friends!

Well girls, fall is definitely in the air here in the NW!
damp, chilly mornings, falling leaves.....and getting
dark much earlier...{oh the sadness....}

but, I'm looking forward to
 football games, pumpkin patches,
and corn mazes......with a little hot cocoa on top....

I have to admit ~ most years I go into fall
kicking and screaming......not usually ready
for it....but this year I'm thinking it's ok...
I can do this....I'm   r  e  a  d  y!

ready for some white pumpkins
ready for some hay bails
ready to make some crafts.....

aren't these the cutest?
super easy & I love the simplicity of it!

these (above) are another story however....
not sure how simple, but love love them.
I'm thinking book pages, mod podge, mossy stuff,
and what kinda stick thingamabob
do you suppose is used for the stem?

loving the orange against the faded turquoise

very cute, huh?

I have a broken down,
dilapitated{did I spell that right?}
antique{for shame} wooden wheelbarrow
project {phew mouthful there}
that I'd like to do this week.....it completely
fell apart....maybe from all the   *r   a    i    n*
we had last year.  So I'm thinking of just
buying some plywood & tracing the old pieces
and reconstructing.....sounds easy enough right?

I'll keep you posted!

What fun things are you all up to?

btw.....trying to get a little more technologically updated
over here so I now have

I'll be posting fun stuff almost everyday
so come by and

me.....at this point I have 5 friends....{3 of which are
my family & I told them they had to..hee hee hee...}
what a sad lonely existence.....;)
of course I'm kidding but seriously come by!!

Have a fabulous week guys!

~lovely cottage full of books~

Hello hello!!

Happy Thursday to my bloggy friends!

I've got the cutest home to share with you, but first
a weather update......my goodness, how will
you go on without knowing the weather over here! hee hee...

today is lovely...clouds are clearing off to
some beautiful 70 degree sunshine....
we were actually in the 90's for a week or 2~
just as soon as the kids started back to school....
um....ya....kids go back to school & weather gets hot!!
C  R  A  Z  Y!!!

is this not the cutest little cottage??
k, not really so little but sooooo cute & full of
charm &  B  O  O  K  S!

I loooooooooove books.........!
in fact, I hate...hate...hate to leave bookstores...
Mr. T & T has to push & nudge me out the door as
the stores close up for the day........
There is just  N O T H I N G  better
than sitting in a big comfy chair with a stack
of books...........is there??? :)

so I was particularly drawn to this home
which is full of them!

I think since the weather here is so gloomy 99% most
of the time.....that in order to soothe myself on those
miserable rainy days ~  I dream up a scheme of
sitting in a cozy chair, sipping hot tea, wrapped in warm blanket, with a big ol' pile of books.....

it is the only way to survive in the NW!
that of course & a bunch of Jane Austen movies!

but no need to go there right now.....
not yet because the sun is shining!
and hopefully we have at least another month or so
to enjoy it.....cross your fingers for me!

oh to have a fireplace in the kitchen......
we had one once....in an amazing victorian duplex
we rented right after we got married....
it was a dream!

and get this -  the owner had replaced many
cabinets and such with antique armoires!
in the bathroom, in the bedroom, in the kitchen...
it was divine.....*sigh*

so I do have a book recommendation for all y'all.....
I just finished "The Help"
I wanted to read it before I see the movie.

It was really good......I liked it a lot.....
so if you are in need of a good read, I would
highly recommend it!

Enjoy your Thursday~
hope the sun is shining wherever you are! :)

~where have I been????~

Hello long lost bloggy friends!

where in the world have I been, huh?
well, I know many of you have experienced
this.....but I just felt like I had
N  O  T  H  I  N  G
to share!

nothing terribly interesting, or noteworthy
that you all might want to see.....
nothing done....completed....finished...
you know?
although ~ we did get our stairs  a  l  m  o  s  t  completed,
so that will be a post coming up......

it's not that I haven't been busy (of course!)
but busy playing with the kids....
working in the garden....
going on long bike rides....{ahhh...summer
has finally arrived in the Pac NW and it sure
feels amazing....}
running....
ok well jogging....
ok well walking mixed with jogging ;)
and that has just felt like pain on every front
I mean awesome!!!!

no seriously, I did start a running program ~
and I've successfully completed ...drumroll please......
4 weeks!!!

it's called the
plan, and it basically takes it nice & slow
getting you ready over 8-9 weeks for a 5k.

I don't know why, but I've been feeling this
overwhelming urge to be a "runner" again.
Probably because I'm in my mid 40's
and I feel like if I don't do it now ~ it'll never happen.

I used to run a fair amount in my 20's but
haven't been too good at it since.....so here I am
giving it another try.  But this time
I am doing it!! yee - haw ;)

I did over-exaggerate a tad
when I said everything hurts.....because you
know what?  it doesn't hurt too much!
I think it's the slow progression of the program
it get's you there with not too much pain.

So anyway,
my sweet followers & friends....that's where I've
been.  But, I promise to do better ;)

I will decorate, home improve, sew,
create & more......... and share it with you.

Thanks for hanging in with me!

xoxo,

Shellagh

~new to the linen shoppe & faded blooms~

Hello friends!!

First of all...the weather report....
we have had HOT weather for the last 4 days!!
amazing huh??
So beautiful ~ it almost makes you
forget about all the rain......almost....

evidently, until now we haven't had 3 days in
a row of sunshine since last fall!!!!!
oh my goodness! and you all thought I was
just whining huh??? ;)

I thought you might like to see a couple new
products I added to the

New table runners just in time
for outdoor dining & bbq's!

This cute little runner has frayed edges,
and raw edged ruffles....it's made
 with a nice lightweight cotton....

same lightweight cotton fabric, frayed edges,
with a monogram of your choice....

I love this graphic!!
frayed edges & shabby yumminess!

Affordable & fun for your
summertime entertaining!

~*~
In the garden.....

I picked my peonies earlier than normal this year
(due to massive rain....ahem.....)
...and we've been enjoying them for awhile now...
they are now quite faded & ready to be tossed, but
I just love the way they look all faded & tattered!!!
(imagine that!! ;)

Although I'm sure a better camera (on the wish list....)would produce more impressive pictures ~
I thought I'd share a couple anyway ;)

I just love the paper-like look when
they dry....

and lastly, my favorite bloom....

Hope you have a fantastic weekend!!

Shellagh

~farmhouse love...in America~

Happy Wednesday friends!

Well summer is finally here!!
It's so nice to have the kiddos home from
school ~ and begin to enjoy the lazy
long days of summer!

the pools filled....the strawberries are
beginning to ripen.....and the S  U  N
has actually even been out!!
Now that's something to celebrate
around here! ;)

I'm loving this little bit of farmhouse
inspiration I found.....
oh to live on some land.....
that really is my dream.....
lot's of open spaces ~ with gardens in between...

is this just the cutest little potting station??
the charm of it all is just 2die4!
what is it about the old faucets and sinks?
they really evoke a feeling of nostalgia...

the inside of this home is just sweet
as can be, as well ~ classic fabrics
 and breezy window coverings....

so the antelope on the walls....
I am liking it ~ must admit....
they are antelope right??
I'm also really liking the vintage leather
chairs.....

I do suppose I'm hearing some moans and
groans with the blue dining room, eh?
well ~ yes it is a little more color than we all
like but I think it fits well in her home.
And I am liking the travertine floors underneath...
oh ya ~ love me some travertine ~ anytime
anywhere~ :)

how about the barn wood on the wall heading
up the stairs?  I kinda like it ~ I really love
the ancestor's photos on the wall!  I'd love to do that
in our home somewhere.

ok ~ now we're gettin' somewhere....
I am in love with the simple farmhouse
bathroom.....I am in love with the simple
clawfoot tub.......
you with me??  Thought so! :)

love the simple farmhouse bedroom as well....
ahhhh can feel the gentle breeze coming through
the window......

lovely patio....I just love that wide open space~
the view.....anyone have a farmhouse for sale??
hee hee ~ jk of course.....I'll just keep pluggin'
along on my little cottage in suburbia....

Hope you all are having a wonderful start
to summer!!!

~yummy french inspiration for you~

Happy Wednesday friends!

I came across the most amazing
french home & knew you would
all be inspired by it!

It's definitely got my wheels turning......;)
{of course Mr. T & T would say "when aren't they
turning??????"  hee hee so true, so true! }

first of all ~ can I please start gluing
rock to our interior walls???
no glue? ok, then ~ how about mortar?

and craigslist?  anyone got any
big ol' beams for me?  that'll fit in the back
of my suv??
cuz I need those too......

is this kitchen just 2die4 or what?
love it.....so perfect.....

the walls are just the perfect shade too.....
and throw in a little weathered wood
and yummy linens....
~sigh~

more wood beams....and a lot of neutrals.....

patina.......

really the decor is rather simple....
not a lot of fussiness here ~
the natural beauty of all the surfaces and
walls is just stunning....

ok here are the 2 rooms I'm in love with....

I am just loving the little punch of color
with the faded turquoise.........
and the little bits of pink & lavender....
paired with the neutrals it's just amazing!!

totally adorable & perfect french perfection....
when I see this it re-affirms to me
"yes, this is the style you LOVE, no need
to second guess it....this is it!"

ok ~ I'm also loving the faucets here....
and what a cute door w/ the windows!?
{more wheels turning......;) }

and those darling, darling wall sconces....
pure yummmmmmmmminess!
and it looks like a little grainsack was used
for the window treatment....
~more sighs~

I'll leave you in the garden.....
with more french country perfection......

I hope you all are having a fabulous week!
See you next time :)

xoxo,

Shellagh
