~wash day~

Happy Saturday!

Today is wash day....

I have several bolts of yummy linen
that will be washed & dried
with my favorite lavender fabric softener....

I wish wish wish
I had a clothesline to hang them on.....

such a feeling of nostalgia....
....linens on a clothesline...

although it might be kinda hard
to hang 30 yards of fabric....

what a tangled mess it becomes in the dryer!
nothing that a bunch of fluffing & hot iron won't
take care of.....
{good arm workout too...}

I woke up early today....
mind racing...
thinking about all I need to do....

it's kinda nice to be the only one up...
while the family snoozes away..

even Mr. T & T is still in bed!

aren't these throws gorgeous??
would love to add something like
these to the shop......

What are your plans for the weekend?

Hope you have a great one!!

Shellagh

Lovely photos that I am really enjoying this rainy mid-day. This morning my son and I hit a few yard sales. I scored an almost complete set of six blue and white transferware dishes, Old Mill pattern. Then we came home and picked weeds on the front lawn until the rain started. Wishing you a relaxing weekend.

Hi Girl!
Love that your wash day is spent with linen, rather than dirty socks and undies :)

Another drying methode for linen fabric is to launder and lay it right on the grass to dry in the morning sun.
You would think yucky grass stains, no quite the opposite, the moist fabric linen against the grass create an acid like reaction that whitens and brightens the linen. You can google information on whitening drying vintage and linen fabrics right on the lawn/grass the is a wealth of info.

How easy would this be for your wash day to drag 30 yards of linen to dry out laid out across your lawn? What a beautiful site this would be :)

Thank you for sharing your day, I am off to ou,r local flea, and thrifts :)

Have a beautiful weekend.

Shellagh- Oh- What beautiful fabrics you have to wash. I do have a clothesline and use it all the time. Can you tell me what kind of lavender fabric softener you found? I have not seen any in a lavender fragrance anywhere. Blessings- I am having a quiet day (for a change) xo Diana

The linen is beutiful. I also like Dore's suggestion of drying it on the lawn. I have used a hedge to dry sheets, with success.

I am enjoying the Autumn days of the olympics

Yummy images! I like to wake up to a quiet house and spend a bit of time all alone. Love your little bed tray. Did you make it?

There's nothing better then the smell and feel of fresh linen or sheets that have been kissed by the sun and fresh air.
The lavender water will give your linens a beautiful scent though. I have spent the day making new curtains. They look so pretty too :-)

What is the lavendar fabric softener that you mentioned? I have tried a few with not much result.
Many thanks for any information.

I'm finding that air drying my cloths saves them from getting damaged. Whenever I use my dryer it always fades away the beauty of my t-shirts. It could be that my dryer has a curse or air drying is just the way to go.
