~a few thoughts on decorating for Christmas~

Happy Monday friends!!

oh was it rugged.....draggin' everyone
out of bed at 6 am.....after a week long
vacation & par-tay....;)

it's hard getting everyone out of their warm &
cozy beds.....and out the door into the
chilly, damp and foggy morning....
before
the sun is up....

but they're all up & gone....
it's just me & the pooch here at home....

{this isn't her...but looks just like her!
hmmm....maybe I'll try for a similar shot!}

did you all have a wonderful Thanksgiving??
we really did.....so much fun spending time
with my brother & his family

stayed up late every night....played games
and hung out....did not step foot into a store~
with the exception of buying this & that
for cooking.....

{absolutely insane game.....my kids could not
get enough of it! hence the staying up late each
night!!}

well the only bummer about being gone all
weekend was coming home
to all our neighbors having their
outdoor lights & decorations up.....
ruh-roh....the pressure builds.....

time to get started......yesterday....;)

isn't this the cutest little Christmas cone?
love it!
so easy to make & stuff with little goodies....

I know one element I'll be adding to my
Christmas decor......

and that is....sheepskin....

 around the house
and maybe under the tree?

I started noticing this last year but at
that time it was a little late to add it in ~
but not this year!

doesn't it look great under a cute tree?
I absolutely love how our nordic friends
decorate for the holidays.....

how they use sheepskin
&
how they throw little baby trees into jars of water .....

hmmmm....where to find a little spruce I
can pull out by the roots????

Mr. T & T is out of town this week so
if stuff is gonna be hauled out of the attic
it's gotta be hauled out tonight.....
....cuz I need my stuff....

like my little sleds.....
I usually set them out on the front porch ~
but would love to use one inside....
anyone else do this?

am I like way slow on this?
do you all do this already?

love this little vignette on a coffee table too....
the mercury glass with the pinecones
is perfect together....

pinecones are so fun to decorate with....
it's so easy to change up things
by adding a few pinecones & greens...

pinecones, greens, a little lace & silver....
add in some ironstone....

love it.....

did you all get started on decorations
this weekend?

or ~gasp~ finish decorating?

{fyi...please don't tell me yes on that one.....
I need my sanity this week....hee hee.....}

oh the pressure we put on ourselves huh? ;)

Hope you are all happy & content
and
 feeling un-pressured
and un-hurried
and
can enjoy the beginning of this
Christmas season.....!

xoxo,

Shellagh

We were also away,
so I am feeling a bit
of pressure, mainly
because my daughter
is having a Christmas
party for some of her
friends on Saturday.
So I need to have a
few things up....Love
the pinecones on the
tray and I have to get
some! I'm going with
a more natural theme,
too, and love the idea
of the sheepskin!

Hi Shellagh,
It sounds like you had a fabulous Thanksgiving! So happy you did!
I'll have to try that game, we're in desperate need of some new games!
I always love visiting your blog, the photos you post always inspire me!
Don't worry, I haven't finished with my decorating. I have to pick up my tree tonight, I got it flocked and it took a day to dry. I hate having to wait! :)
I can't wait to see your Christmas decorations, I'm sure it will be gorgeous!
Have a lovely week.
Sincerely,
Melinda

Well, you're not alone. I planned on getting our outdoor lights up this weekend. I even went to the store Friday night to replace ones that burnt out last year. Then I waited....for help.....from a family member or two....it never came. I think this is why I'm so independent, I can't stand to wait for other people! So, I will be outside tomorrow stringing the lights and garland along the top of the garage and putting the icecicle lights in the windows (I do these inside tho, same effect, easier to reach) and then all of the other decorating as I have time to do it. I refuse to feel rushed this year! Right,we'll see how that goes LOL And yes, I DO have an old sled, mine from childhood and my old skates and I've always wanted to do an arrangement like that so maybe I'll throw that in the mix this year as well! Have fun decorating! Hugs, Leena

These are great images! They make me want to decorate but I am in the same boat as you...I need someone to carry my boxes up! A little elf perhaps?

Where I get our live tree I see a lot of those branches on the ground...I am going to get a few to stick in water...I like that idea. They also sell greenery but years ago you could just gather it up!!

I love your sled and ice skates. Mine are at the lake and I could kick myself for not bringing them home!

SO anyway, the answer to have I decorated yet...definitely not! I JUST got the fall stuff in the box! And I have been to a lot of blogs with gals saying they haven't started, so don't feel bad. It's only pressure if we let it be.

Enjoy your time while the kiddos are back in school! I am!

XO,
Jane

Oh your just as cute as a button...I love your posts I really do! I am with you on the sheepskin but finding it is not easy and I too want to yank something out by its roots!! Got caught red handed the other day"borrowing" some cedar...somehow chatted my way out of it!! Have fun with your decorating! x0

Love the pictures! I could be wrong, but the top picture- could it be a blanket from Pottery Barn? If so, I have it- AND it's like butter!

Would love for you to stop by my blog too and say hi!

Yes, I finished my decorating this past weekend... now I can ENJOY the holiday season... shop when I want to, craft/sew/knit what I want to! It was a whirlwind couple of days but it's done until January.

Thank you. We have real sheepskins made with eco-friendly tanning at http://www.europeansheepskins.com There’s no comparison between thick, natural sheepskin rugs and the cheap mass produced ones sold by the big boxes.
