Happy Thursday friends!!
how are you?
I am
f i n e......
considering what impending doom
is ahead of me......
wow ~ almost sound apocalyptic...huh?
not so much....
just a dreaded appointment with the dentist....
yuck!!
and I do apologize to any dentists out there!
ya see.....I am getting a tooth "e.x.t.r.a.c.t.e.d."
today.....yay me....:(
this poor tooth has been through the ringer....
2 root canals, and still not happy....back to see
the endodontist & he says "oh bummer ~ your
tooth is cracked all the way down the root"
lovely....
only option is an extraction....
so today is the big day.....
and this is pretty much how I'm feeling...
"nope, not going, you can't make me, yucky pooey,
I hate dentists, and the sounds & smells, and
such..."
wait I'm the grown up so this is ridiculous.....
~gulp~
ok what is with me you must be asking?
what e.x.a.c.t.l.y. is your issue?
why such a scare-dy cat?
well, my isssssssuuuuuueeee
is......the last time (well several times ago)
I went in (different dentist)
.....they had a dental assistant sort
of person/man/monster administer the shot
and he twice nailed my
n e r v e...
ouch!! terrible!! not good!!
and ever since ~
I've been a scaredy cat.....
yup....not good.
but today ~ I will be taking valium...
how embarrassing....she needs drugs
to handle life........
what can I say? it will be fine....
{I will fill you in later....when I come back & see all your
comforting sweet comments.....I'll need them today!! :)}
so is this post all about me? and
my weakness??
of course it is not! it's about numbers!
we have such a fascination with them, of late!
isn't it interesting to you?
numbers.....letters....randomness.....
we love it.
numbers on baskets, pillows, drawers,
bottles, and so on.....
we even love them on stairs....
and e.s.p.e.c.i.a.l.l.y. love them on
dressers, and bureaus, and cabinets....
we see numbered cabinets and our hearts
skip a beat.....we can't breathe....crazy
over numbered cabinets....heehee...
oh you know I'm right girls! :)
and oh how we love them on pillows.....
and love, love, love them on plates....
we are funny girls aren't we?
and don't even try to figure us out....
it's just not gonna happen...
we don't make sense, we are non-understandable,
we just don't know "what's gonna strike our fancy at
any given moment", but that's ok....
cuz for sure........we get it....:)
and we love it....
we love our numbers....
have a wonderful day friends!
and.....if it's ok with you...
say a little prayer for your scared bloggy friend
who will be in the depths of despair at about
12:40pm PST.........just sayin'...:)
*update*
thank you all sooooo much for your kind
comments! I am home & it went
really well!!! My new dentist is amazing....
a young 35ish or so gal....super sweet & gentle!
so I'm chillin' on the couch, relaxing and taking it easy....
thank you again for your support & hand holding....:)
hugs & kisses <3 <3

Lol! Good luck today Shellagh..love the images of the cats too!! xoxo Rachel
Oh Shellagh, I hear ya, I feel the same way...eeeeck! Love that black cat image!!
I hope all goes well for you.
One of my teeth went through the two root canals, capping, failure, extraction. Thankfully, the last oral surgeon I went to was wonderful, fast, and quite affordable. I hope he never retires.
Poor thing! I'm scared too of the dentist...terrified actually so my thoughts are with you. xoxoxo
I love all these images...the number fascination is funny. I painted a number 4 ( my fav # ) on a tray and my husband thought that was the wackiest idea ever!
Good Luck today!
Oh poor lady!
Giving your virtual hugs and lots of prayers coming your way.
You will feel and be so much happier once you are healed and over this - having an owie tooth isn't fun at ALL.
Blessings to you!
Love your numbers visuals- they are awesome.
Hugs.
OMG! I'll be thinking about you! I'm a scaredy cat too. I never have dental work done (except a cleaning) without laughing gas. I MUST have it or they really can't even work in my mouth because of my extra sensitive gag reflex. Insurance doesn't cover that extra cost, but too bad. I get it regardless. Good luck to you. I had a permanent molar in the very back of my mouth pulled because it was going to need a root canal and since I was going to get braces at that time, they just decided to get rid of it and let the wisdom tooth behind it fill in. It didn't hurt AT ALL! In fact, it was almost comical to watch him trying to pull it out because it was a challenge. You'll do fine. Let us know how it went. Have some wine later tonight too and celebrate (after the valium wears off, of course). Ha! Btw,,,,, I'm a huge number lover too!
oh dear I hope your day turns out better than you are anticipating!
Great pictures!
You make me laugh and cry all at the same time Shellagh. I HATE the dentist...with a passion...I know, I know, we aren't supposed to HATE. But I think even the Lord would understand my dread of the man. I am praying for ya girl!!!!!
hugs from here...
I will e-mail you info about the camera.
I am a big fan of nitous oxide at the dentist. Makes me relaxed, happy and the time goes quickly. And my i.pod with loud music.
Hope you are home resting and relaxing by now.
Fondly,
Glenda
I hear you! I'm in the same boat and do not want to go!
I hope everything is okee with you !!...love Ria...xxx...
Oh my...I'm a dental phobic too...I'm anxious getting my teeth cleaned! I feel for you! I had valium before my root canal and it really helped...they will give you something to calm you if you ask ahead next time....just a thought.
Lorraine
I hope all has gone well Sheelagh...I hsd to have one out last month because of an abscess under a root canal, let me tell you I was glad to get relief!

Well, being that you like numbers so much I think you should just keep counting as they are working on your tooth. It will distract you and you won't feel so scared. Maybe you can count all the hairs you would like to pull out of the dentist's head?;>) xo Diana
Poor Shellagh, I am so with you, have to block off the whole day just to get a clean and I have no idea why as I haven't had a particularly bad experience, just a strong gag reflex!! Hopefully they give you something that sends you off to happy land while they work! And then come home and smile and tell your kids the dentist is great so they don't end up with a phobia like us...
loving all the number inspiration:-)
Tracey
oh this made me laugh (sorry). Oh my...i will be thinking of you sweet shellagh! You'll be FINE!! (but sending prayers your way anyhow!!);)
I got here a little late, but hope all went well. I had an extraction a while back. Not fun, but I felt worlds better. The tooth was not salvagable, and infected. Get some rest.
Fun post...Dentist yuck , my palms sweat...Love the pics you have posted on the side of your blog of your home...Blessings Lori
Ohhhhhh, you poor girl! I HEAR you about being a scare-dy cat about going to the DDS!!! (just something else we have in common lol!) How did it go? How are you feeling? Do you need me to send you a bottle of FatCat*HappyDog wine so that you can drink yourself silly...??? Sending you a healing hug, sweetie!
xoxo laurie
Oh goodness, I'm going to the dentist on Monday to have an old (cracked) filling replaced! I almost didn't finish reading your "story" when I saw what it was about! It was funny though and love the "numbers" pictures!
Can't wait to hear about your DDS adventure!
Oh sweetie, I feel for you and hope everything went well!! I'm the same way, you don't even want to know how long its been since I've been to the dentist!
Let us know how it went and take care!!
Sincerely,
Melinda
I love anything with numbers on it!
Glad you survived the Dentist!

I hear ya!! Dentists are my least favorite too although I will say that I have had two or three teeth pulled with no problems. Numbed me up and started yanking and reefing and I think he did some swearing , but out they came. LOL Glad yours went well!!
Blessings~
I experience for you and wish everything went well!! I'm the same way, you don't even want to know how lengthy its been since I've been to the dentist!
Let us know how it went and take care!!

Alle the best,

Hope all went well Shellagh.
I hate dentists, too and my appointment with mine is already next week. I'm literally d*r*e*a*d*i*n*g the man.
I've been visiting your blog often but never left a comment before - I guess this had to be the day!
I love your sense of humor, your style, your creativity and when in need for some true INSPIRATION I pop over. So, thank you for inspiring me!
rita
I understand the fear. But I am glad you are fine. Isn't it crazy how sometimes the dread is the worst part? Anyways, funny also that you are talking about our love of numbers. I found zinc hand tags. I numbered them and hung them from organizing baskets which sit above my kitchen cabinets. And I am hoping to use that tutorial on Pinterest to make enameled number tags. We'll see. Have a great weekend.

OMG! I cracked a perfectly good tooth during New Years Eve weekend and it cracked right down to the root too! They could not save it and it had to be extracted and a temporary bridge installed. I was so nervous of this impending procedure too and had to take Halcyon...relaxes you and gives you amnesia of the whole procedure. I was more nervous thinking about taking the Halcyon and hoping I would not act like a fool! I have been very sore but feeling better the last 2 weeks. I go in March 20 to have another impression and then final permanent bridge goes in 2 weeks later. Costs lots of $$ too! Ugh! Not a good way to start the new year! Some years back I had to have a root canal and the endodonist hit my nerve(bullseye) too and I think I shot right out of the chair! So, I understand completely! There are plenty of people out there just like us...we are in good company. ~Hugs, Patti
I'm so sorry you've had such a bad experience with the dentist. As far as I know, assistants are NOT ALLOWED to administer anesthesia. The dental hygienist can, maybe thats who did it. The nerve is not a good thing as it causes a terrible shock! I'm glad the new lady dentist is giving you something to take the edge off. You are not a wimp!
I love all the numbers.
~Shanon
Hi ! so glad you found me through Kate. I love the numbered stairs and dresser, how CUTE!!!
