~in the garden~

Hello my friends!

well have we been majorly spoiled here
in the nw....

we've had, maybe, five whole days
of beautiful sunshine......

what a treat!
(yes now we're back to rain....hmmmph!)

but all the sunshine has got me thinkin'
of the garden....

I've actually got things starting to bud.....
a.l.r.e.a.d.y.....!

and since it's been dry enough
to walk across my front lawn
(yes, we deal with this all winter...
soaking wet grass you just don't
wanna walk on!!)

I even spied my peonies peeking out
of the soil!!

yay!!

mine look just like these ones from French
Country Cottage.....

I love them!

but I am really wanting white peonies
now.....like now....

are these just amazing????

oh, do I ever need them....:)

....other things budding....

my lilacs....
mmmm..yummy lilacs....

n  o  t  h  i  n  g
like a bouquet of lilacs...
well unless it's a bouquet of peonies...hee hee

or a bouquet of these gorgeous
old fashioned roses....

love love my david austin
roses....they smell like pure heaven...

oh and let's not forget the paperwhites....
yes, I love them too....

pure deliciousness for the home......
.......in metal containers ~ even better!

that reminds me....
has anyone transplanted
clematis before??

we'll be taking down our pool
pretty soon & right now it's fenced
in with 4 varieties of clematis growing
on the fence....

so we'll be redoing that space ~
I'm thinking of creating a really cute
veggie garden....surrounded by
a darling little white picket fence....

can you imagine the possibilites???

but then there's the pesky
business of the trampoline....
kiddos want one....
to replace the pool...
(which has seen better days & now needs replaced or
thrown out!)

they make me nervous...
you?

we've had them before & no one has
gotten hurt.....but they still make me nervous!

my vote is for a vegetable garden, but
I know the kids are only with us so long....
~ there is always time for my perfect
little garden spot.....

here they are at Christmas...
when we were getting our tree...
little cuties they are...

Madisen is 15, Allie is almost 12,
and Mackenzie is 14...

so I'm sure the trampoline will win out!!
who can say no to them anyway?? :)

well it's bedtime in the Ticking and Toile
home.....

Have a wonderful day tomorrow!!

xoxo,

Shellagh

You have me wishing for spring and inspired to clean up the garden and plant something beautiful.

I wish peonies would grow here in hte Southeast but they won't. I miss them so much.

Enjoy the trampoline!

What beautiful peonies! I have transplanted clematis in fact, I have done it several times. It was very easy, just make sure you get enough rootball. My daffodils are coming up...very early for here in Ohio but our winter so far has been very mild. Your daughters are lovely! My grandkids have the trampoline. I am glad it is not in my yard!...lol~Hugs, Patti

Gorgeous garden pictures and gorgeous girls:) I have never seen white Peonies. Now I need them too. I have seen trampolenes that were put into the ground so that they were level with the top of the soil. Seems much safer and just as much fun:) Love your idea of a veggie garden. Can't wait to see pictures:)

You have me ready for spring now! i just have to have a reality check though because around here we have sunshine now but we are still in the middle of winter! It has been unseasonably warm this winter but we just know that at any moment we could get a huge snowfall.
You mentioned all of my favorites, the peonies-I would love white ones too, the lilacs, all of the old fashioned flowers. Spring is on the way!!! t.xoxoxo

I love peonies too...in fact I ordered some white ones from a little nursery online....we will see...I have heard they don't do well here in So. Cal, but I couldn't resist!
It has been a mild winter here...I have a peach that has bloomed and now has tiny little peaches...
Ready for spring....

Your photos are beautiful! Your plans sound great for growing a vegetable garden with picket fence. The home that I am moving to next week also has a white picket fence in the back so I am thinking about growing Confederate Jasmine on it.

Oh my gosh...when I first saw those photos, I thought that you had blooming flowers in your garden already, Shellagh! You've got me thinking about my garden now. I'm itching to get out there to prune and look for little buds. But I fear we have a whole nother couple of months to get through first. Ugh.....You're so blessed to see signs of life in your garden!! ♥ (yeah....I pinned ya....)
