~decorating flea market style~

hello my friends!

for the weather update....
.... heaven....

clear blue sky & heading to 80 today!
same thing yesterday.....

what a wonderful change ......
.....we really needed to see the sun!!

 ~*~

now, on to decorating flea market style...
isn't this a great idea for our chandy's!?

I really want to try it in our living room
or dining room!

and wouldn't it be amazing to find a little bird cage
like this??? to use like this??

ok this picture (above) really makes me crazy....
because it makes me want to rip out our bathroom
cabinets & drop a sink into an old dresser
{that I do happen to have on hand......but remember in my last post
the bathrooms were simply someplace I was too overwhelmed to even attempt??? uh huh ~ see that's why it makes me crazy....but I can resist....and wait....;) }

I will keep the picture in my idea file & swoon over
it just often enough.....to keep the dream alive....

what cute stairs huh? hmmmmm....
more ideas.....
and btw... you are all so fabulous~

I feel so lucky to have so many supportive
friends out there!  I felt so much
better after reading your comments &
I took your advice & walked away from
the whole thing for awhile....
and it helped a lot!

I think my brain was just needing a break
and some recharging.....
I'll get back to it....

I have been seeing more & more tables
like this and decided I need to find one or two or......

and of course finding an old chippy fireplace
mantel would be so awesome....

a tidy little spot for mail.....love it too....

now look at the stairs here...so simple, looks
like a 2 x 10 or something just painted & looks
great.  {note to self....stop overthinking everything....}

chippy shutter love....

mixed with bench & basket love.....

~*~

well girls, I'm heading out to my garden to play ~
it's so quiet & peaceful this morning
with the birds chirping and a gentle breeze....
gotta go enjoy it!

thanks again for all your support & encouragement
I'm working on getting back to each of you
you're the best!

xo,

Shellagh

Great inspiration photos. The stairs in the 4th photo remind me of ours at the lake except for the cutwork. I need to look into that, since they aren't finished yet.

Thanks Shellagh. Glad you are enjoying the rest of the week!

I actually miss the PNW weather. It was the norm for me to work in the garden every spring wearing my Wellies and rain coat. Me and the slugs...

Here in Texas I have to get out around 6:30 a.m. and in by 10:30 a.m., then out again after 7:30 p.m. until I can't see anymore... Thank goodness for air conditioning!

Enjoy your nice weather!

Talk to you soon ;)

Hi Shellagh,
I've been inspired by all of these images, too. Love them all! I have the picture of the frame and music sheets on the ceiling saved in my idea book, along with the rest of that house. It's funny, because I've thought of trying that in my living room, too, with a pretty, shabby chandelier in the center! It's such a big room with a large, blank ceiling, It needs something to fill it up and add some character.
Have fun in your garden!
Hugs ~ Jo :-)

Hi Shellagh,
I totally loved your idea of painting my fireplace white, but my dear sweet hubby, whom I love so much, does not. So, I'm still figuring out what to do with the dark hole. 8)
But, onto your images today, they are GORGEOUS!!! I love, love, love the style that you seem to love too. I really love the one of the stairs coming down with the lovely shelf and pitchers. Beautiful!!!

Hey Shellagh...so glad you are feeling better and have turned off your 'overload' button!

Well, I just finished making some pillows, and, thanks to your encouragement, I made some with cording..and its EASY!

Hope your day is wonderful..I'm sitting here at my table looking outside..the breeze is blowing, windchimes sound lovely, everything looks green...ahhh...BUT IT'S 100 #$@#% DEGREES OUT THERE!

Anyway, got that off my chest...chat with ya soon.

So am I kicking myself that everytime I went to France (about 15 times) all I bought at the markets were tablecloths and cheese? YES...they let you bring cheese from France back into the states! Next time I'm gonna rent a container and bring back COOL stuff like your photos. Beautiful!

Hope you are having a lovely time gardening today. Lovely inspriation photos, be warned about using a wooden vanity for the bathroom though. The previous owners of our house had an old wooden sideboard as the vanity here. Completely rotted out around the taps, just horrible. I would say go a marble top (or faux marble) if you can.

I have to add, that i love these photos, too.
The simplicity of the decor combined with all the vintage makes it so inviting. Using the ceiling tin to give the new bath tub some 'age' is probably my favorite.

I have those ideas in my file too! Love them all...especially the birdcage, the ceiling medallion and the spot for mail. Love them all!!
Blessings~

So, so happy that you finally have summer weather your way!!!
All of these images are absolutely inspiring.
Like you, I have a zillion projects bumping around
in my brain. Time to prioritize and get to work before I'm too overwhelmed!!!
I wonder which project you will attack first???
You are uber-talented in so many ways, so it will be fun to see what you tackle next!

Hi Shellagh,
I just picked up my copy of Flea Market Style the other day and I loved the picture frame on the ceiling for your chandelier too. I thought that was a great idea! I hope you are doing well and have a great weekend!

As always you select the most inspiring photos. I like the birdcage idea for the plates. I picked up an old chippy missing a piece or two square cage and stand last month now I'm wishing it was round.

I love all the photos but using the birdcage as a plate holder is brilliant! Now I am on a mission to find a cage that will work.

Just happened upon your blog and LOVE it! Thanks for posting the great pics. Okay, I see many, many things I like...birdcage, banister to hold mail, and a cute shelf. I just had a garden party last night and that birdcage would've been perfect! Hope you can stop by my blog sometime;)bb

First of all I would likе to say еxcellent
blog! I had a quick question іn which I'd like to ask if you do not mind. I was interested to know how you center yourself and clear your thoughts prior to writing. I have had difficulty clearing my mind in getting my thoughts out. I truly do take pleasure in writing but it just seems like the first 10 to 15 minutes tend to be lost simply just trying to figure out how to begin. Any suggestions or hints? Thanks!
