~why I love french country~

Hello everyone!!

Happy Friday!!

baaaaaaaaad blogger.....I am....

yup....that's me.....

busy busy busy busy busy....
linen washin', dryin', ironin' & cuttin' machine
over here!

but it's been over a week &
I missed my Tutorial Tuesday
yes, I know....I feel so small....
just couldn't pull it off.....

too many other things to barely pull off...
hahahaha! :)

so I'm forcing myself to sit down, catch up &
say hello! :)

and I thought you might enjoy some
lovely french country inspiration....

you know ~ I do believe this is my
"true style"

other styles really do inspire me...
JDL, shabby chic, and such....

but I'm pretty sure, I can definitely say...
I shoulda been born somewhere
in the French countryside.....

somewhere with stone floors....
and stone walls...

somewhere with a big ol' fireplace
like so.....

and patina everywhere....

you with me?

somewhere with exposed wood
ceilings....or at least rustic
beams everywhere....

I love the warmth of it all~
and let's not forget
the worn wood, worn painted surfaces,
and the linens...

and the chandys.....
can't get enough of those mixed in with
all the rustic-ness.....

and of course....you gotta have a little
bit of vintage toile mixed in....

a throw, or a quilt is just right....

love it....
love it all....

how about you??

are you torn between styles?
have you wrestled with that??

or have you found it &
can say "this is me! once & for all!"

do tell!

and have a fantastic weekend!

xoxoxo,

Shellagh

  6. Aloha Shellagh!
I love French country too, I don't know what it is but I do. I would also love to stay in France for about a month just to do as the "French" do, as they say, but I was there only for a few days. And, I was born in and still live in Hawaii, so my decor is utilizing things Hawaiian with a bit of beach cottage.
Love all that you share with us!
    Thank you,

  9. I SO TOTALLY relate to trying to find my "style". As soon as I move toward having "one style", I find something I LOVE and it's in a "DIFFERENT style"! Right now I'm working on a plan to discover my "own personal style".
Oh! And the French Country photos are magical. I want THAT style also!

    Have a delightful weekend!

I have some hints of French country in my home but it's the lighter touch to rooms that gets me every time...looks such as you've shown in this post.

Thanks for some great eye candy!

  16. I tell my husband that owning several homes would allow me to indulge my various style personalities. But of them all, French Country keeps coming to the fore. Love the look, comfortable and natural, with that "je ne sais quoi" that just sings.

  17. You know, my WC sista....it's all your fault that I've wobbled back and forth between shabby chic and French country like a drunken sailor. lolol! But I must admit that recently, as you can tell from my posts over the summer, that I HAVE finally decided to follow what my heart has been telling me all along. I call it "Bohemian Shabby Chic". Or maybe it's "Romantic Prairie"...? Or could it be "Romantic Bohemian Shabby Chic Prairie"...?

    Ok....wobbeling again....

    hehehe!
