~beachy Jane~

Happy Wednesday everyone!

Can you believe the temperature
is heading up to 98 degrees
in the rainy NW????

I can't!
it's a record for this time of year.....
.....but I'm NOT complaining :)

I love Jane Coslick~
she designs vacation cottages....
her work is so fun & whimsical...

I thought I would share with you an
amazing "before & after"
of a little cottage she redesigned....

you know we always have to start with the ugly
before you get to look at the pretty!

~before~

~after~

scary kitchen huh?
you just gotta love the yellow floors
with the dark brown cabinets
yummmmmmy.....;)

you might like this just a bit more....
I love the island....and the wood on the ceiling....
she is all about wood in your home....
on the floor, on the walls, on the ceiling...

I would love to find a cute screen door like
this for my pantry.....
too darling....
and are you just loving all the wood on the walls and everywhere????
it's sooooo awesome!!

here's the hallway before shot~
kinda dark & dreary wouldn't you say??

k, more wood on the ceilings and walls....
....love it!

~now wouldn't Mr. T & T love me if I brought home a buncha
wood off craigslist & showed him this picture???~

~pause~
~ I am loving the painted floors (surprised anyone??)....still loving that idea for our upstairs.....~

did I hear you ask when I might possibly finish such a thing?
well....I'm working on it....well not really....more like staring at it....
more like not wanting to jump into a huge project right now ~
especially w/ Mr. T & T busy all day job searching....
he's a little grouchy right now he's a little preoccupied....

anyhoo....let's get back to dreaming....
so do you suppose one would just get some
1 x 8's or something and start nailing them to the ceiling???
hmmmmm........you know that's actually what I
was up to many months ago when I picked up the free paneling off craigslist.....then discovered it would work well for flooring......click here for that story...

there's a lot to love about this room.....
the whispy dust ruffle....
the white everywhere...
and I love the pale blue? on the floors....

now moving on to the fabulous bathroom~
come right thru that
 door & follow me!

um....white slipcovered chair w/ ruffles anyone??

too cute huh?
of course there is a darling clawfoot tub
to soak in....

I believe this is a cottage that can be rented
if you're anywhere near Tybee Island....

how would the kiddo's like this room?

we're back downstairs now....

and out to the covered deck to enjoy a little dinner & watch the surf....

is it back to real life time yet?
no? one more? ok...

cute little dining room...
for eating dinner....
um....speaking of which....

does a family really need dinner every night?
ugh....does anyone else out there run out of
ideas????

ooooooh....bbq!  get Mr. T & T involved....;)
you know how they like to take ownership
of dinner as soon as it's being cooked outside!

one more thing I almost forgot.....

my last post on the dream garden
the owner of the garden & property, Dianne, read all the comments and was so touched....she wanted to thank you all...these are her words

"G'morning Shellagh!

My husband and I just finished reading the comments on your blog. WHOA!!

"Thanks to all of you for your beautiful comments about the garden. I'm totally humbled. (and inspired)

Hugs, Dianne"

She is such a sweetie!!
Your comments really made her day!

I hope you all stay cool
and enjoy the rest of the week!

xo,

Shellagh

  23. I happened by your blog from Dustylu and glad I did. I'm loving painted floors but I'm terrified to try it! We have hardwood floors and I'm thinking paint will ruin them because there's no going back without lots of work. Anyway, love your blog and will be back. Added you to my blog roll....

  26. I can't believe you're having (going to have?) hot weather. Here in California it's almost COLD. I was just outside working on some shutters and almost came in for a sweater. In JULY?
That house is lovely. Many ideas I could use in my beach cottage that we hope to build this year!
    thanks!
